....prick has knocked my drivers side wing mirror off last night. MX5parts want nearly £90 for a replacement, which is about half the value of my car. Anyone got one kicking around?

Assuming you still have the mirror and that it broke on the (rusty) bolt.

They are easily repairable, full 'How to' on the OC site.

Yeah, there is just the sort of 'bracket' thing sticking out of the door now, and the mirror itself rattles like it has a golf ball or something inside it. Couldn't believe how rusty the stub thing was. The little beast is being SORNed next week for a little while anyway as I've bought the missus a RAV4 for when she passes her test, so I'm gonna smoke that* until she is ready to take it on, and hopefully get a few niggly jobs done on the Mazda in that time.

Please note, the RAV4 may end up getting hammered down all the green lanes Hampshire has to offer, and Salisbury Plains, prior to her taking it on.

This is a common fault and not necessarily down to someone else's poor judgement or malicious behaviour; mine fell off of it's own accord one evening...

Hey,

You'll be pleased to know, this is very common, as is said above, and very cheap to put right.

http://www.autolinkmx5.com/door-mirror-repair-bolt...

or similar from ebay/the web.

You might want to fit a new spring too, as they tend to do this;

http://www.mazda-mx5-shop.com/index.php?main_page=...

(You might find a cheaper spring elsewhere, but this was a good piccy)

Fitting is a doddle;

http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/articles/viewarticle.aspx?i...

Instructions with pics.

Should take you 20 minutes to buy the parts, and another 20 minutes to fit.

May as well do both sides whilst you're at it, guaranteed the other one will fall off a week later if you don't....

Good luck!

I may still have a red electric driver's side mirror knocking around. Some drunken scum from Blondes pulled my passenger side one off a few months ago.
