Following on from my thread below about viewing a Mk3 tomorrow, just wondered in my probably over paranoid frame of mind if anyone thinks this looks like it's had a bit of a respray as the door looks slightly lighter than the other panels. Obviously not the best way of judging things, but think it looks slightly off.

Yours, Mr Paranoid.

Could just be the reflection - who knows?

I would recommend looking at it anyway - the paint match might not be spot on and then you might want to walk away. Most cars these days have had a spot of paint here and there.

Definitely could be reflection, but I would agree from the photo it looks like the door is a different colour.

Thanks for the replies so far. It's a 120 mile round trip so just in two minds as whether to go or not.

Lots, and lots of new cars look like that. Have you see the paint match on a green Focus RS? The bumpers are very, very, very noticeably a different colour to the panels.

It could even be that the door is ajar and catching a different light.

Or the door is Alu where the wings are steel..

Ask the seller - if they say no I'd probably believe them and go see it if everything else is kosher too - have you HPI'd the car?

Exactly. It's worth going to see if everything else checks out prior to going to see it, and the seller sounds genuine.

I think it looks fine. The door looks the same as the front wing but slightly different front the rear wing but bearing in mind the shapes of the rear wings on Mk3 that's no surprise as it'll be catching the light & reflections slightly differently. I reckon if the car was just about any other colour you wouldn't see a thing.

I agree. That 2nd photo shows nothing, so I would be inclined to say it was reflections/shadows/etc.

Are the doors on a Mk3 plastic? Paint looks different according to what material it's put on - some colours are worse than others. If you find an MR2 in the 'zircon' light blue, every single one of them looks like they have a mismatched front bumper. smile

as long as there are no obvious rubdown marks etc or signs of previous damage i wouldnt worry about it....i work for a main dealer and you wouldnt believe how many brand new cars we send that we have had painted due to scratches/minor damage etc
