Right I'm thinking of parting ways with my Mk1, been the best car I've ever ever had, but I need somthing biggerfrown

The roof is in good working order and has never leaked at all, the rear plastic window is a state, it as ripped in several places and I have stuck "Stick Back Plastic" over the rips on inside and out. Surprisingly this has worked for the last 10 or so months with no leaks!!! But it looks a state....

I really need to replace the rear window, I was hoping to just cut out the clear material and glue some similar material in place, but I'm not very neat...

I could buy a new rear screen, but I havent seen any come up for sale for a while and they arent too cheap due to demand.

I could buy a whole new hood, but the cheapest I can get that done is around £250 and that is nearly a quarter of the cars worth!Plus the actual hood works very well. Plus I am going to spend £150 already on four new tyres.

I was hoping a car upholster would be able to sew in some new material, but I have had a quote that costs more than a brand new fitted!

Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks in advance guys

I thought you could buy the zip out panel without buying a new hood... Not sure where though.

I'm surprised at the quote you had for the new rear window. I had mine done at a local coach trimmer for £100.

Cheers for replies

Hmm I've seen a few screens come up on ebay in past not so many recently

Cheers for the reply on coachtrimmer, I was hopeing to pay around that amount. It would be a easy job if you did it by trade and had the material handy.

Anybody know any decent trimmers or similiar in the southwest?

cheers again

Step by step exactly what you want sir. I got as far as buying plastic, silicon, a knife, and then picked up a cheap brand new glass window roof. The thought was there.

Cheers for al the replies guys!

That guide was good mr BOT, it was just what I wanted, I'm tempted to give it a crack, I just need to get the right adhesive sorted.

Ive been getting a few quotes back in the south west, most want around £250-300 to sew in a new window, which is about the same as a new fitted basic hood! I know I sound tight but I am probs selling soon and already replacing 4 tyres so all the costs add up on a £1500 car! Esp when the hood is fairly solid, bar the rear window.

Krych trimming in Brizzle have quoted £140 which seems reasonable, might give them a shout.

Also, any of you guys own a Eunos/MX5 and regularly drive through/or live in Aldbourne Wiltshire? I keep seeing the same guy in a silver one, who is obviously a enthusiast
