just bought a 2004 mr2..
i still have my 1997 1.8 mx5 (with very hard gaz suspension)

just thought i'd post a quick review;

good points
its better to drive 'fast' than the mx5
better mpg than the 5
not as many on the road
much more comfortable and quiet

bad points
no luggage space
tyres are much more expensive compared to the 5
less feel from the steering/chassis (ok it feels different)
not as much fun to drive slowly
ugly rear end design

my conclusion

more 'sporty' but no better - shame they stopped production

Sounds fair.

I always like the look of the mk3 MR2, indeed I would have had one if the storage wasn't so poor. It comes to something when a mass manufactured sports car is more impractical than a Lotus elise varient (I went for a VX220 instead as its more practical).
