Mk2.5 Oil Control Valve
Discussion
I'm trying to take the cam cover off my mk2.5 (2003 model) and unfortunately my workshop manual does not cover the vvt engine differences.
I've undone the bolts that clamp the cover to the head and removed the banjo bolt for the oil pipe at the rear. I read somewhere that you have to do a vertical lift on the cam cover due to the way the oil control valve fits in the head and it can be a bit difficult. Mine won't lift easily and seems to be held by something inside in the area of the ocv.
Is it just a case of using a bit more brute force to lift it, or does the ocv and pipe have to be dismantled from the outside of the cam cover first?

It will just lift off. It can be a bit of a tight fit but you just need to wiggle it a bit while lifting straight up.
There is an additional little bracket holding a bit of wiring harness held on with a 10mm bolt at the front right hand side of the engine that might stop it from lifting...
