Have a problem with the electric window on the driver's side. It won't move up or down more than 1mm or so, but the motor is turning or at least making a noise. The noise that it makes suggests that its trying to move the window but something may be jamming it. The window is sitting a little low but is basically in the up position. I was fully expecting to find a snapped cable when I took the door card off tonight but I found that it has been fitted with a worm/screw type mechanism. This must have been done just before we bought the car a few weeks ago as when we first saw the car, it had the door card off to rectify a window problem.

So, what can I do next? Is it likely to need a replacement assembly or is there something else likely to cause this?

While I'm here, I also discovered that there is no water shield plastic present on the door. How important is it that this is replaced?

My drivers door has an after market scissor type worm drive elec window that doesn't like to be left unattended for very long.......If the car has been standing for any length of time I hook up a leisure battery (like jump start) & assist the travel both down & up with my hand a few times, after which it's fine.

As far as the plastic damp cover is concerned, I'd replace it with a bin bag if I were you - check the other door has gat one fitted while you're at it thumbup

Cheers quick silver. Mines not a scissor mechanism as such, just a flexible screw drive. It seems that the motor is giving its all but nothing is moving. I'm starting to think that the window itself may be jammed somehow as it can't be moved by hand.
