Looking for a MK2 1.8, seem to start off at £3k and then go up to over £6k for a later sport model.

Have seen a 2000/x Jasper Conran model with 114k miles near me.

How well do the 5s deal with the higher miles? Used to have a MX-3 which took the high miles very easily.

Mine's on 225,000KM and going strong (touch wood and all that). Think that's about 140,000 miles and it's never let me down, apart from a waterpump leak which happened when the t-belt was due anyway. More frantic wood touching!

My T reg ('99) Mk2 is going in for its 144k mile service tomorrow. There's never been a problem with it.

My Mk1 is on 180000+ KM's, with zero service history and runs perfect. I'm sure I read on here about some guys that race them say the engines are loosened up enough to race until 120000 miles or more.

If you look hard you can find Mk2 1.8's from £2k.

Mileage isn't a worry as long as its priced accordingly.

Problem is that 130k seems to be the 'new 100k' ie nobody will buy them unless they are a complete giveaway - which will probably affect you when you sell it on.

My '91 has just ticked over to 125,000 miles and apart from the synchro on second being a bit fussy sometimes when cold (and I think another fluid change will sort that), it runs beautifully. Looking through the big history file, it's needed nothing other than servicing, brakes and tyres (and a clutch that I put in when I bought it) during that time...

My 91 Eunos is only 45k miles now biggrin

(Well, the engine that is, the rest of it is 189,000KM -approx 122,000 miles - and is still tight as a nut)

189k km = 118k miles (divide by 1.6).......so you've done less miles than you thought thumbup

Back to back against mates with similar age but lower mileage cars, mine's definitely got a bit more energy.
