Anyone tried running a Rover V8 / manual box through a standard 1.6 4.11:1 diff? Received wisdom says it'll grenade, but has anyone actually proved this?

Even fitting a mild turbo setup seems to require the 1.8 diff, so I very much doubt the 1.6 diff would take the power.

This Ford V8 powered car uses a Ford Thunderbird LSD and custom half-shafts. The stock one would struggle a little with the torque.

A 1.6 won't last long.

A 1.8 diff will be fine unless you're drag racing with slicks.

Except the gearing is a bit short for a V8 (although if you're drifting etc that won't matter)
