Cheap track tyres?
Discussion
I'd get some part-worns from my friendly local dodgy backstreet garage.
So long as you get four of the same design with the same level of wear, shouldn't be a problem. And you don't need to worry about shredding them then.
Alternatively, I've got a set of 14" alloys with Michelin Energy rubber on them that I might flog you. Done one trackday already so they're a bit blistered, but still in relatively good nick.

I'd say it depends what you want to do. If you want to drift around the corners playing with over-steer and generally a laugh then I'd agree with the others and just get a set of old rubbish. If however you want to get some decent lap times then Hankook RS2 are very good value for money for track tyres that also work well on the road and in the wet.

Toyo T1-Rs are also super-cheap for the MX-5 (in 195/50/15) - less than £30 a corner from Camskill last time I looked. Not as hardcore as RS-2s, but £80 a set less and fine for the road too.
Not really comparing like-for-like though. RS-2 are much nearer to the likes of R888s than road tyres.Edited by MX-5 Lazza on Friday 4th September 12:01
