Hi there,

i haved a 1998 mk2 mx5, and what i believe is a standard 1.6 open diff.
worked out by using the following, and how the diff itself feels. http://www.miata.net/garage/diffguide/index.html

now i can't remember off the top of my head, but i believe my diff case to be finned, and i don't know what my flanges look like, but as i have a 1.6 it must be an open diff.

now my question is, could i fit this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JDM-Miata-T2-Torsen-LSD-Heli...

into my diff casing and be job done? or are there other bits i'd need?
or would it be easier to buy a 1.8 lsd in its case and then get the 1.8 half shafts and prop?

cheers

just to add to the above, i found the following -

"I'm afraid not, so your best bet really is finding a wreck that's newer than 1994.
All the later models use the same casing and shafts, even the 1.6's(open diffs btw). So if you can't find a 1.8 you could at least get the parts you need to install a aftermarket diff or have the open one welded.
oh, and there is one more option for getting a torsen, Honda S2000, same diff in it."

he states that later than '94 all mx5's had the same case and shafts, is this correct?
if so then i guess i could put the ebay linked torsen straight into my case and it would be job done ?!?!?!

any help is good help.

I'm not sure about mk2s, but I went from open diff to LSD on my '94 Eunos 1.8.

I needed Propshaft and driveshafts as well as the diff.
