Headlights won't go down!

My mother has a 1997 MX5 (UK Car) and both of the lights popped up on their own accord yesterday and we can't seem to get them to go down.

Any ideas on what may have gone array?

Are the lights on? If not have a look at the manual pop up button above the radio. Maybe check if it works and the wiring behind it.

Oooops - now feel a little silly (my excuse I'm not at home) - I forgot all about that button to manually make the lights go up and down!
