Well after my Eunos decided to drop a valve on me, I've got a new engine to put in. (only 40,000 miles!).

Now I've removed engines from other cars so it's not completely new to me, I was just wondering if anyone had any hints and tips they've picked up from their experiences?

Is it easier to leave to gearbox in the car, or take it out with the block - you know, that sort of thing.

Any help and advice would be greatly received!

Thanks,

Milk

I have helped out on a 1.8 Mk2.5 engine swap and we left the gearbox in the car. Seemed pretty straightforward with only a few problems with fuel lines (get the proper tool for the job).

Will I have to re-run the fuel lines?

I'm replacing an Eunos 1.6 with an Eunos 1.6?

If so, what is the tool you talk of lazza?

(I've only had the car 2 weeks frown )

Depending on the engine crane, I find it easier to pull the engine and box together.

With the Mk1 there are no fuel clip / line problems.

Its a pretty simple swap (with a good engine crane and a mate to help out)

Really? The only "problem" we had was getting it to sit back down on the mounts and gearbox shaft at the same time - a bit of jiggling about and it dropped in though.

Yep - you undo PPF, prop bolts and the gear lever instead of all the gearbox bolts.

But you need a decent crane and the front of the car tobe lifted for clearance.

I've only had the head off my Eunos, but the entitre inlet manifold assembly, unbolted but still left connected to the fuel lines, sits quite nicely on top of the driver's side inner wing. If you do do that, just use a bit of string to hold it there, would be easy to topple it otherwise.
