Hello chaps,

Picked up a Eunos (1993) at the weekend - the air con says it's on, but it doesnt get any colder than the normal air - is there any way to check that it does work, or does it just do that when it needs regassing?

Cheers in advance.

WOW - I just gave AARON the same reply on his overheating thread.........Aircon systems will not engage the pump when the coolant level is too low (loss of pressure). To check that the pump does not engage, check under the bonnet when the engine is running & when the aircon + fan/blower is switched on the pump should visibly turn behind the pulley.

If it won't turn, don't worry, just get it recharged.

Who can recharge it? I'm pretty sure the thingy does work as when you turn the AC on, the engine judders for a second.

Thanks!

Near you?........in Hamp's there's Avacs: http://www.avacs.co.uk/aircon_repairs.html

Not sure exactly where you are in Hampshire, but there are plenty of vehicle aircon garages around, google is your friend.

ETA:
Make sure that you have the heater stiched to cold!

Cheers, wasn't sure if it was a specialist thing, or just a regular air-con thing.

Thanks mate - really great help! smile

If you want a bit of fun Halfords now do a kit to recharge aircon.

Make sure it's an R134 system first. Early ones were R12, and the Halfords kit won't do that - you'll need to get a specialist to convert it (R12 is now illegal as it destroys the ozone layer).
