Has anyone that has one of the moss/jackson supercharger kits tried charge cooling one enabling more boost/fuel/timing etc?

One of these units looks like it would sit well in the middle of the crossover pipe from SC to intake mainifold...

Yes lots have.

The Moss one is rubbish.

Most use a PWR or a Pace one.

The one you've linked to is similar design to the PWR.

So if I bought a used 1.8 MX5 with the jackson kit and wanted 250hp at the fly, is this possible on standard internals? ( I dont want a turbo before you ask!)

If so what do I need?

Smaller pulley (what size?)
Standard injectors with FPR or a stand alone ecu and larger injectors
Chargecooler or intercooler (I prefer charge coolers)

Thanks

250hp out of the M45 Jackson supercharger is not possible as it will not flow enough air, with some considerable expense ~210-220hp max is possible.

I got 197hp out of my M45 with a 60mm pulley, Pace Chargecooler and 4-2-1 headers. Ill be fitting a standalone ECU at some point and am hoping for ~215-220hp once tuned.

The newer MP62 Superchargers will flow enough for 250bhp, but again not without considerable expense, to get 250bhp you would need the following:-

MP62 kit with small pulley
TDR Intercooler or equivalent (Chargecooler's heat soak quickly and expensive)
Standalone ECU + larger injectors
Exhaust upgrade
Clutch upgrade

Also 240bhp and upwards you start really stressing the standard engine and gearbox, although there are a few cars around running 250-260bhp on standard internals reliably.

@ 220bhp with an M45 I would have thought the issue of heat would have been overwhelming, even probably @ 197bhp.

Never had any heat issues with my current setup even though the charger is being overspun, the outlet from the chargecooler exchanger can be touched by hand so it seems to work quite well. Also have a Koyo rad to fit shortly.

I bought the kit used from a car with a Motec ECU, that dyno'd 217bhp with the same 60mm pulley so im optimistic that a fully tuned ECU should achieve about the same for me.

Whilst myself and many others have played with the M45 my advice (which I have ignored) is that if you aren't happy with the 175ish the std kit puts out (which many are)

Then you are better off starting with an MP62.

I am currently running a Coldside M45 at 9.5psi and I'd guess that with water inj and an ECU I'm going to be around 225bhp.

Currently I think I have around 200bhp which is enough to keep up with some fairly serious cars as most tend to weigh significantly more and have higher gearing.

I have a 250bhp FM2 and TBH it is VERY fast - comparable to a V8 TVR.

I wish........shame about the MP62 & Mk1's. Where FI is concerned, I'd much sooner have a SC in preference to a turbo any day of the week.

MP62 will fit on a Mk1, just not on a 1.6... at least not yet. I think Phil at P5 was working on a 1.6 MP62 kit, not sure how far he got with it though.
