MX-5 owners from all over the country will descend on Mallory Park Race Circuit on Saturday 12 September for the 2009 MX-5 Owners Club National Rally www.mx5oc.co.uk

2009 is a very special year as it is the 15th anniversary of the MX-5 Owners Club and the 20th anniversary of the car. To celebrate this year’s event will feature a mixture of on and off track events so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Highlights will include the opportunity to improve your driving skills with qualified instructors, excellent value track time, gymkhana paddock/handling arena, a demonstration of drifting by Driftworks, charity hot laps with skilled racing drivers, car competitions, trade stands, craft exhibition, and much more.

To mark this special year the Club has bought a red MX-5 Mk1 (R reg), which it is raffling in aid of Help for Heroes, the charity set up in 1997 to support British soldiers wounded in Afghanistan and Iraq http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/. The draw for the car will be made at the Rally. Tickets are only £1 each and will be available at the Rally or can be purchased beforehand.

Admission to the rally is £6 per person in advance or £8 on the day – non-members welcome. Children under 16 are free if accompanied by a paying adult. For further information on admission or raffle tickets please email helpforheroes@tyneteesmx5.web.st

Lazza, I may just do that as I would like to meet you, and I'm interested to have a poke round both the track car and your red one if that's ok!

No problem at all. Just don't expect the track car to be fast - it's a 1.6 which has lost a bit of power over the years laugh

Does your car have a 1.8 and 888s? If so, I won't be seeing you for long laugh

My car is an absolute disgrace and is a shame to all other MX-5's so it's unlikely I'll be going.

Doesn't matter. There will be hundreds of 5s there, some immaculate, some sheds. Everyone will be enjoying the day just the same regardless of the condition of their cars.
