I've just bought a smaller wheel for my Mark 1 RS as I'm quite tall and would like a bit more room in the cockpit. It's a 320mm as opposed to the 360mm one the car came with. Next I have to buy a boss and think about fitting it.

Is this a straightforward job? The manual makes it look quite complicated, having to use a special puller to get the original wheel off etc. As I'm a complete mechanical duffer, I wondered if anyone out there with more experience than me (most of you I suspect!) who has done this particular job can offer me any pointers?

easiest way is just to use the 6 hex bolts and not touch the big nut in teh middle... if your new wheels has them of course. that's why most go for momo replacements as it's a straight swap

BRILLIANT idea thanks!!! Saves me the price of a boss too. Unfortunately the hex bolts are metric and I've only got imperial - anyone know what size allen key I need?

ETA I'm guessing it's either 2.5 or 3mm.
