Does the gearbox oil actually need changing periodically?

I just ask because mine's a bit grumpy getting into 2nd until its warm, might need changing/level checking...

It's only about 3.8 litres for the engine. Costco sell 4l bottles Mobil1 0W-40 for £25 and that's more than enough for an MX5 engine oil change.

Better than that Lazza - 4L of Mobil 1 0w-40 @ Cosco is £20 +vat = £23 & like you pointed out, I had a small amount left over after the oil/filter change last Month.
