Hi Folks - apologies in advance if this one's been asked before (haven't had Maz long) but I would like to replace the hideous plastic number plate holder with a stick on plate just above "as you do"

Can you please advise -

1. Good Supplier
2. Best way of filling holes left by moving old moulding
3. Will I get loads of agro as technically it illegal?

Help much appreciated.

1. Craigs plates - £16 ish
2. Filler & paint
3. No. It will be an advisory at your MOT. I've not yet been stopped or had any aggro whatsoever.

Or:

3. Yes, it will be a fail at your MOT, as mine was a month or so ago. It seems to be a particularly grey area.

Same here....many times, and on different cars.

Apparently MOT regs on plates have been tightened up recently (according to my MOT man who just passed my offset jobbie).

Our last MOT was in March and it wasn't even mentioned.

Like I said, it's clearly a grey area. Some testers are failing them on the "not vertical" thing, some on the "not BS reflective" thing and some seem to understand that it's ridiculous and just ignore it.

Mine has a stick-on plate and had its MOT in May. It passed last year but they had to double check the new regulations this time, but it was ok.

Mine was last month and it was an advisory, the chap told me it wasn't strictly legal but not to worry as it would be an advisory on every MOT in the future.

OP; have you considered an offset plate? Not to everyone's taste I guess but it's cheap and easy to do.

Thanks for all your comments..........on balance definately worth geeting I think (so have just ordered from craigsplates).....just need a tidy way of finishing the holes that are left? may favour some sort of grommet than paint and fill........?
Thanks again all.
