I think for not a huge amount more you could go for coilovers,

such as

I haven't tried these new Koni's but the old sets were great.

Spax tend to get shocking reviews.

I have a set of the old Koni 1130 series shocks on my Mk1 - not only do they make the car look mean, they do the business too!

Those KONI's from MX5 PARTS do look pretty good value, just a shame they're not in stock......

I got those Koni's a few months ago and I have to say I'm quite impressed. They're not too stiff and don't give a really harsh ride. but they are certainly much better than the standard ones, and do drop the height a little to make it look much nicer. I've not got any photos of mine just now, but I'll try and get some post them up.

Make sure you allow some budget for a full alignment afterwards too.

I changed my Bilstein suspension to the Koni sports (after an MOT fail) and it made the car feel very soft and woolly. It was absolutely pin-sharp before with a rock hard ride. After fitting the Konis it was the exact opposite - smooth ride but it had lost that pointy nose feeling. frown

I think it's because it significantly changed the stance of the car, which in turn affected the suspension geometry.

Has there been any further progress with the set-up Performance 5 were developing?

I'm set to have the new performance 5 stuff (Sportsdrive) put on my car within the next few weeks- there have been a few delays but hopefully it will be worth the wait.

I'll post up when its all fitted and run in.
