It looks like Mrs E will be giving up her company car in the not-too-distant future, so I've been casting around for the right car to run privately. Budget is up to say 5.5K, 6K or so.

Looks like the MX5 is the right choice for her, but frankly the choice and range of Special Editions is bewildering.

I've been casting around and the Euphonic edition looks good, though. It seems to command a modest premium over standard.

I'd welcome people's thoughts and opinions re this and the many other MX5 options?

Thanks in advance

John

The Euphonic is quite a nice spec, coming with Black & Red leather interior. They originally came with a Sony sound system and speakers. The 1.8 also had an LSD (Torsen). Further info here.

If I was looking to buy another MK2.5 I'd be looking for one of these, or a Sport (like mine, which incidentally will be for sale soon!).

Agree with the post above, but I am obviously biased as I tracked down a Euphonic myself. As well as the interior kit and the LSD, it also comes with limited edition Euphonic alloys in titanium grey - which looks fantastic when coupled with titanium grey bodywork...

Thanks both - there area couple at the 5.75 - 6K mark in the area, might swing by and take a look.

Interestingly, one seems to indicate that aircon was an option rather than standard - was this the case?

Correct, Air Con was an option. I haven't got it, and so far haven't missed it, when it's hot I have the roof down - it is rarely hot enough to leave the roof up and want air con on in this country.

Remember this is a car for Mrs E,to whom such a simplistic approach would never appeal wink

In my experience aircon is used more in winter when it can clear the windows much quicker than the heater alone. I have also had a few instances where it's been wet and warm (ooer) so the aircon was put to good use.

Thanks, it looks like she's elected to keep her company car for another 3 months, so the search will be slightly delayed

I'm afraid the new owner collected it this evening. It will however be for sale in a few weeks as it was a trade buyer that had it from me. PM me if you want more info?
