I'm potentially looking at replacing the exhaust on the MX with a twin exit one.

The two primary candidates that I can see are the MX5Parts one and the Larini exhaust.

Obviously the Larini comes in at £400 whereas the MX5Parts one is under £300. Which would people recommend from experiences? I do a fair amount of motorway miles and often leave home at 5am for work so don't want it to be droning but some noise (but not too much) would be great.

For fear of sounding like a broken record, that £100 extra is well worth it for the Larini.

I love mine, it pops and bangs like a bd, as they say.

Have now done a proper search and it seems the Larini is well recommended, and just watched the YouTube video of your car.

Are there any videos of drive-by's with a Larini exhaust on, YT only has one or two and they are inside the car?

There's one or two when we all went to Long Marston. You can hear my car a few times in that. I'll dig the vid out if I can.

Regarding the single outlet versions, does anybody know what the differences are between the Larini 76mm and 100mm tip?

So it's just a cosmtically bigger tip. No difference in fitting or sound etc?

Nah, it's the same exhaust tbh. It's just the tip that is different AFAIK.

Racing Beat

Though the price might be a bit high at the moment due to the cr@p £/$ exchange rate.

That's the one. The price looks reasonable until you add in shipping etc. Might be worth asking Phil at P5 what one would cost now.
It sounds a bit deeper and sportier than stock. Any sound clips I have of mine now won't help you as it was only fitted on it's own for a little while back in 2005 and I now have an MP62 and Larini mid-pipe & cat.

P5 has them up at £339, which seems quite reasonable. Would you say they sound similar to the Larini exhaust? (Cheers for your help btw!)

You'll have to ring Phil on that as I don't think he has updated the website properly since the exchange rate went wrong for us.

The RB exhaust is a different sound to the Larini. I actually rather like the RB sound but it can be a bit raspy. Prefer the Larini though.

Do you think so? I seem to remember mine just being a bit deep and woofly (not sure if that word exists but it describes the sound well).

Didn't that have other exhaust mods as well as the back box?

Full RB system I think.

That'll explain it then. Just the back box should make the exhaust note deeper and meatier.
