Hi,

Well as you all may now from my previous posts, after all the problems I had - I have just been to my mx5 hobby mad friend today wayne in eccles and I have lots of things fixed today with used and new stuff from wayne and autolink. My new aerial I put on myself after the old one snapped on the plastic, the stereo has been fixed in with a proper japanese cage (the original holder), new blue grommet put on under sill plate, new rubber cover to go over gearstick as old one was split. New power steering fluid bottle as other was dented from the cat c accident years before I bought car. Relay covers replaced, headlamp motor covers put on, earths in the car all scraped and reconnected, headlight lamp checked for bad connection. Fan is working properly now after replacement relay. Trim buttons replaced, central locking fixed on passenger door (as it would not unlock but would always lock). Glove compartment hinges tightened, interior lights replaced (but they still don't light up when car door opened - to be sorted next time). Stupid useless wire from stereo to cd changer what used to be in back of boot (i binned cause I hated it) has been pulled out, I did not want it. Rear drivers light cluster replaced with used rear light showing white reverse cover now but with red bulb so it now matches other side (the old one had been sprayed red inside the cluster - how mad is that!). He replaced my windscreen wipers with chrome ones and my windscreen washers which are chrome are supposed to light up (I did not know this) and so he will connect them next time. Steering wheel removed to replace the cancelling switch for indicators (now I have to remember not to pull down stalk). New rubbers on pedals. Missing bolt to fix drivers seat to floor has been done too and new seatbelt stalks fitted. He has scrutinised the whole car and there is more to be done, things like the relays and electric wiring not fixed properly in place in the engine. I guess now all my hard work and money is finally paying off!

It seems that my car after the accident has had parts taken off it in the past (like the air conditioning pipes are still there and the rest is gone, and all the bits I have found that are missing over the last two years) are due to the fact the car will have been written off and then stored somewhere in a yard and parts have been sold from it and then some guy has decided to buy it as it was but not repair it properly. I guess I am finally getting it sorted now up to spec and now I can start putting a few mods on it. Just go my insurance renewed with A-Plan and i got a far better deal than NIG, plus they took note of the laserline immobiliser on it and noted the modifications. NIG never took note of the small steering wheel and ss exhaust on it etc. Saved me £30 for the year.

Wayne has found some chrome covers for my air vents and is going to find me some chrome wing mirror covers on ebay and other stuff cheap for me. He is also now going to do me a service next month ready for mot in july. Just need to get some plasticote in red to paint the black trim buttons red as the red ones are hard to come by.

When I drove it back home the car was quieter and hardly any rattle, and when I put my foot down my head shot back and I could not believe the difference in power and quickness of the car it almost felt like I had stepped into a 1.8.

Hes a good bloke and loves helping my s ltd - I am so happy and don't want to get out of my car now its so much more fun!

Next thing I want is respray of bumber, and going to purchase those front fog lights from mx 5 parts and a new stainless steel grille for front as the aluminium one looks dirty and horrible now. The jack I purchased off ebay a year ago is not a proper mx 5 jack even though it was advertised as one so wayne is going to find one for me.

Sounds like you car is really coming along well!

It's good when you see the results of getting all those bits and pieces sorted out.
