MK2 1.8 RS

Hi Chaps - after my post a few weeks back extolling the virtues of my girlfriends MX-5 I've decided ot seek one out myself. It'll be a second car with the long term aim being to turbo it for a reliable 200ish horsies.

I've found a 1999 car advertised which is an imported 'RS' model; having rooted around a bit I'm struggling ot find a definitive spec for it, seller claims a 6 speed box, slippy diff and a bit more power due to different cam shafts. Can anyone confirm this and add any more detail please? And would it be a good base to start from for the longer term turbo plan?

Reasonably rare in this country. The RS is definitely a good base, but just be sure insurance isn't a problem as all the Mk2 RS cars are imports.

The spec sounds pretty accurate really. Pretty sure the cams were different.
