I'm not sure I want an FI'ed MX5, nor do I really think a turbo would suit the car (I have never driven a supercharged car so don't know what this is like power delivery wise).

So after doing a bit of research into n/a tuning I found a US site Fujiracing who do individual throttle body kits at a price of just over £1000 (not sure about shipping) http://www.fuji-racing.com/fujiracing_005.htm it's not just outright power I'm interested in (would be nice to have some more than standard though) but the sound too (I like cars that sound good!) What gains would I see out of one of these kits? Would I be charged for importing this from the USA?

Also thinking Carbs but have not seen any on MX5s, think I read on nutz something about carbed (if that is a the right word hehe) being big in Japan but can't be sure.

Imports from US are expensive at the moment. A year ago the general rule of thumb was price in US $ = price in UK £. It's probably more expensive than that now.
And yes, you will pay an extortionate import duty. It is possible to avoid it but safer to assume that you will be paying the full duty.
You also need to budget for ecu - I think piggy-backs can work but stand-alone is better.

There are several carb'd and TB cars around.

Their owners never seem to keep them long they tend to be a disappointment and take a lot of setting up to get right.

I am biased toward SC's as they simply feel like a bigger engined car - go to a meet and try a ride in one.

I still like the idea of a KL-ZE transplant - 2.5L Mazda V6, 200bhp na, 7k rpm smile

But it would be a fair bit of cash to throw at an old MX5.
