MX5 electric window problem

I am sure this has been asked before but I can't find it on a search.
My drivers side window has started playing up. The car is a UK 91 mk1 with electric windows. I can hear the motor labouring and the window moves about 2" but then it all stops. I can manually pull the glass up to make the car secure. Help please.

Get some silicon spray, spray down the runner and run the window up and down a few times adding more spray if needed.

If they doesn't work it might be the runner that is bent.

The winding mechanism is pain to replace but the parts are not v. expensive. My (non-leccy) drivers' side got really stiff just before it knackered completely last year; a common fault I'm afraid. Lubing (as per above) may help a bit but I fear your winding cable is on it's way oot..
