Exhaust fell off, Mx5parts to the rescue

The pipe out of the rear box fell off, awful noise, no money or enthusiasm to do the job.
Mx5 parts to the rescue with there own stainless steel single exhaust for the mk1 complete with gaskets and all the bolts.
WOW, delivered next day to my works address, took it home and 26 minutes later it was on [ OK I am lucky enough to have a pit ] two bolts at the cat to undo, pull off the rubber mounts, the old unit was off, offered the rear box up and hung it on the rubber mounts, hung the front pipe, pasted the front gasket and put the nuts on, same with the back, tightened the bolts up and started the engine.
The car is quite, pulls better and has a nice rasp to the exhaust at higher revs, bargain of the year.
If you have a standard exhaust, just buy one.

Larini aren't that expensive! Well not compared to the equivalents from Racing Beat, FM, Borla etc... Comparing to MX-5 Parts own jobbie isn't really fair.
If you want to fit an exhaust for an earlier year just fit the earlier cat. I don't know what they cost from a breakers but it can't be much - people remove them on early & JDM cars to fit bypass pipes so there must be more available than are needed!

I am convinced that if we are attacked as a country on a wide scale with nuclear weapons and there is some kind of holocaust etc, 2 things are for sure;
1)the cockroaches will be running around with glee and;
2)the exhaust of my MX5 will still be solid as a rock, albeit with no car to cling to.
It seems extraordinarily tough (touch wood) and hardwearing and if the service history is correct - the original!
This is the first I've ever heard of an exhaust falling off I believe.

Yep mine appears to be the original as well. The car was built in 1996, so the exhaust is getting on for 13 years and 110,000 miles. That said an old GF of mine had a Mini 30 and the exhaust on that made it to 10 years. While when I got a 4 year old Punto and the exhaust fell off 2 weeks after purchase.1)the cockroaches will be running around with glee and;

I once tried to clean the exhaust on ours. That's when I discovered that it had once been chromed. It looked better uniformly grey than chromed in patches. I consider that exhaust every time an MX5parts brochure drops through the door or into my inbox. Shiny. Quite cheap. And not too loud, you say?

We've got the dual exit exhaust on ours. £150 and well worth the money!
It came with the template for cutting out the bumper on the otherside. The garage who fitted it were very impressed with the quality.

from me for MX5 parts - i'd had my car in the garage as i was losing coolant, and suspected the headgasket.turned out to be one of the cooling pipes had split - MX5P had a new pipe with the garage the next day - it was such a shame they were out of Black Silicon hoses, so i had to have a coloured one.
shame that.
