Strange grating noise from front of MX5
Discussion
Hi guys, not posted in here before but wonder if I could ask for some help.
When driving along and turing left in my 2001 MX5 I get a strange grating noise coming from the front of the car.
I do not get any noise when stationary so don't think it is power steering related.
I have had the car up on a ramp and there is nothing obvious catching or rubbing on anything. The arch liners are as they should be and the heat shields on the back of the discs do not appear to be fouling anything.
The exhaust is hung well and is solid and so I don't think that is catching on anything.
The discs on the front are a bit old, and have a bit of a lip on them, they are also pretty corroded on the rear of the disc and I wonder if there is a loose bit of rust in there or something which is catching on the heat shield.
If I get chance tomorrow I plan to get the car up with the wheels off and have a good nosey around.
Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Took the front wheels off and sure enough nothing was fouling.
Went for another drive and decided noise could be coming from the rear. Went home jacked car up took off drivers side rear wheel and sure enough heatshield behind disc was catching on disc, not sure how / why this has moved. simply bent it back a bit to stop it rubbing and job done! Car now back to perfect.
