I need some help with deciding a correct spring rate

Hi,
I am using the OE Bilsteins from the Mk1, which right now I am running 315mm front and 325mm rear, which I do realise is far too low. Now I am wanting to sort my suspension out, as I must be running on bump stops continually, though strangley I still find it perfectly comfy.
Now I am looking at first of all getting FatCatMotorsports 36mm front bump stops with 46mm rears. That will give me instantly more suspension travel. But I am running unknown spring rates right now so I thought to myself I could use the opportunity to raise the car up and gain even more suspension travel and to get the bottom arms parallel to the ground, so I want looking at going to around 330mm front and 340mm for the rear. That I thought would give the car a nice ride height to give enough suspension travel. To make it clear I am after the best performance, with looks coming second to it.
So what my question is, what rate springs are suitable to be matched with the Bilsteins? I realise these may not be the best shocks available, and that I should really get a revalve, but I don't have the cash unfortunately. So really I want to get the best from what I have. I have read some things saying the Bilsteins work well with low spring rates and some others saying high spring rates. I am really confused as to which way it should be?
This car is also a daily driver, but I do seem to have a fairly high tolerance to ride quality.
