Well, sure shut my mouth, after years of constantly thinking its a car for fairys or hairdressers and wondering why everyone on here mention it as THE car to get. Now i know why, it was AWESOMELY good!

It was just on rails the whole time , it was only a short blast down a windy road but it was enough to answer all the questions ive always wondered! It was the mk2 1.8 version and loved to be revved!!!

But could i shake off the image of me feeling and , well looking like a bit of a cock driving one?

Answers people!

^ What he said, but if you're worried about the girly thing then look for a mint 1.8 mk1 instead. More or less the same car underneath, but less feminine-looking at the front. biggrin

if you fit in it i can only assume your 6ft or below, because im 6ft 2" and i dont fit in it... which is fking annoying!

I'm 6'4" and I fit ok with the seat right back (in a Mk2). I have slightly short legs and long body for my height.

Did you test a Mk2.5 (i.e. Mk2 2001+)? The seats on this model are much taller and deeper than previous (and later) models so head-room & leg room does become a bit of an issue for taller drivers. I'm 6'1" though and can fit just fine in a Mk2.5 with just a little bit of leg space issue. Mk1 & Mk2 are fine though - loads of space.

Try a mk1, it's easy to come off the rails...

Surely that makes it more fun?Although they can be used as a very rewarding driver's car the fact remains that a huge number of MX5s are driven gently by housewives in search of a 'pretty convertible'. That stereotype just makes it all the more amusing when someone who knows what they're doing makes mincemeat of a repmobile driver about to utter the phrase 'girl's car'.

cry

hehe

The Boxster is so utterly capable though. Fabulous speed, computer game accurate handling, capable of lazy cruising at big speeds on the motorway, amazing stereo (yes, its important!), did I mention the speed, incredible grip, poise, did I mention that its fast?

Man, it's the right decision, but I'll miss the 5.

Dont get me wrong, I went out in the Boxster today for a good drive and love it to bits....and you're correct about sat on the motorway BUT the MX5 is just so easy to drive, light steering, faultless handling and great brakes.....I do hate it on the M62 above 70mph though.

Mine seems to be happiest at 95mph (Not that I ever drive at that speed on public roads of course...). The exhaust note is actually quieter than at 70!

Actually, I was a little worried about what people would think when I bought mine (it is white, after all) but when driving it, I couldn't give a toss what other people think. I'm having far too much of a laugh to care about that!

The steering.

The steering feel and accuracy is just magnificent.
