Initial D - MX-5 vs. AE86

Just caught this clip on youTube and thought it was very cool - it's from an anime cartoon called Initial D and features a downhill street race between a red mk.1 and a Toyota AE86.

Good video. I've always liked the AE86 but they always seem a bit pricey compared to the MX5. Might be to do with how rare they seem.

Did the AE86 have a decent chassis then, or is this pure fiction? Certainly wouldn't win any styling awards, that's for sure.

No, by what people say it's fact. There is quite a lot of them in Ireland where they are used extensivley for rallying, bit like a Jap modernised version of a MK1/2 Escort.

Agree with you in the styling stakes. They look nasty but I still find them appealing for some reason.

I find them appealing too - plus, tiny RWD cars are always cool.

The AE86 is also in like every car game - GTA IV, Forza 2, GRID etc etc.
