No problems at all. The rozzers even used my stick on one to call in and check my insurance after the Mrs had a bump. MOT guy's dont care as the car is old enough not to need the BS kite mark etc.

2001 at some point I think. Probably anything on a 51 plate or newer. Then they introduced it as part of the MOT test in ~2007 and took it back out 6 months later after lots of complaints.So you can probably fit anything that looks like a numberplate at the moment. But they might try again to introduce it into the MOT at some point.
