I just bought a mx5 import from ebay for £795. did 80k miles, imported in 2003. I picked it up, and most enjoyable 1 hour drive ever i had. why i didnt do this before!..

Now the question.. the gearbox are bit stiff and notchy. will gearbox oil change do this?

and clutch. can you tighten up the clutch cable?

Same colour as mine, take it to a mx 5 specialist or someone in your local club will know a good garage to check it over. check drain holes, sill drains etc for blockages. Contact Andrew at Autolink too for secondhand spares, I buy a lot from him. Looks nice car.
Here is mine.

Could change the oil in the box and also in the turret at the top , the rubbers may be fecked under the gearstick . clutch is hydraulic so you may need a new slave cylinder if its leaking or just bleeding if its not .

Sometimes a change to syth G box oil helps sometimes it doesn't (my car is notchy too). The best stuff is MTL but that doesn't meet the required oil grade so it could be a risk.

As mentioned the clutch is hydralic - what is the problem with it ? You can adjust the pedal position but thats about it.
