Thanks for the advice. I haven't yet been able to get a haynes manual, only had the car a week (although i'm already in love with it)
Where would be the best place to get the clamps mentioned?
And how do I depressurise the fuel system?

This site (miata.net) is excellent for all sorts of advice.
Oh, also there is no Haynes manual for the car. This one is much better anyway....

There is a Haynes book for the MX5 (Mk1 at least), I know this because I have one. http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/product...
Haven't seen that other book to comment on whether its better or not though.

I'm gonna give this a bash in a couple of weeks along with some other jobs. I have wired up a switch to my fuel pump relay so depressurising is easy for me Should I open the fuel filler cap first?
You done this yet mate? How'd it go? I may have a crack at mine this w/e. Though there is a thought in my head that "if it ain't broke..." Just done mine! Took longer than it ought to have done, but wasn't too bad. Took ages to get the rubber flexible pipe off of the "engine" end of the filter - that is the feed from the filter to the engine. The feed from the tank came off relatively easily, and I had a handy Biro pen to plug the pipe Fuel does come out but it's more of a dribble if you depressurise properly
Getting under it was, as always, a pain. I need a higher jack!
Top tip - use a pen to block the fuel pipe from the tank. Took me ages to think of something to fit in the hole, then it struck me
