Had to post/share this, was feeling mighty *ahem* annoyed with life, work etc etc the other night so thought I would go the long way home in the "gay 5" as its now known as. It was raining, dark and freezing so thought sod it .......... roof down. I'm telling you It was probably the best laugh I have had in some time and felt so much better when I arrived home very late.
You get some strange looks when you have the roof down in the dark with light rain but if you have never done it I would heartily recommend it. Nothing clears and focuses the mind more than this IMHO.

You have made me feel all inadequate for leaving the roof up today.

It wasn't even raining.

Hereafter, I promise to commit more to the '5 experience. smile

I got my car out of the garage just to enjoy a top-down drive to the local motor-factors to get discs & pads for my Focus. Any excuse for a top-down drive is eagerly accepted biggrin

I seem to have become a bit weedy with the roof recently. Must try harder I think, especially as its so sunny at the moment.

A few years ago I found myself on the M6 Toll, roof down, windblocker in place...and the clouds started to come over. I was going fast enough that as the rain started to pelt down, most of it went over my head. But eventually, the torrent became such that the inside of the car and me became saturated. I drove on with a demonic grin plastered about my face, and most people who passed me had a good laugh. Eventually I was forced to take shelter under a bridge and put the roof up. Nearly sh*t myself when lightning struck right above me though...

Ah, happy days.

I recall only ever driving with the roof up once. Ever. M25 traffic jam p1ssing down with rain. I don't do many miles, but they're all with the roof down, otherwise what's the point ? Happy days.
That's ok for people like you (and me these days) who have another car for the daily grind but for a large percentage it's their only car wink

If your going 45mph plus, you can drive in moderately heavy rain.

Motorways are 100% fine for moderate rain.

Ahhh the looks you get make it all worth while smile
