I'm looking for somewhere to go in the South. I live near Bournemouth, but not sure I'll find anywhere too close.

I need someone that can deal with superchargers as I have one fitted.

Any suggestions?

Not close, but "in the south" is Freelance Mazda in Chatham. Great work, cheap, nice guy.

That's a bit of a trek from me. I thought there was someone up near Reading.

Looks like they are just Rotary and RX7 specialists.

Where do you get your work done Lazza?

Mostly in my driveway these days biggrin

The majority of the major work has been done by Phil at Performance5.

Their website doesn't mention servicing work etc. Just looks like car and parts sales.

MX5 Heaven will do servicing, it just isn't the core of their business.

Rotechniks made their name (literally) by being rotary engine specialists. They do also specialise in MX5s though. They have recently changed management,

Funny isn't it, "best selling sportscar in the world" and you have two specialists in the home counties, namely Phil at P5 and Russell at MX-5 mad doing tuning work and upgrades that the forums talk about.

How many TVR specialists in the home counties doing similar work?, about 7 or 8

Its about time somebody produced a list of who does what in MX-5 circles.

Yep
I try and update my site with suspension specialists on a Nationwide basis but a Wiki directory for all specialist trades would be good.
The Evo register have the sort of thing I had in mind but I would refine it further for the benefit of all.
It becomes even more essential as this credit crunch bites and people are looking to cost cut, as an example I needed a rear window panel for our trackday car and Hothoods in Romford supplied and fitted a second hand panel for a very reasonable price, Russ at Mad got me a same coloured door and has loads in stock etc etc.

To be fair, other than geometry which is a bit specialist, it's just a Mazda and any decent garage should have no problem working on them - I can do most jobs myself!
When it comes to fitting superchargers/turbos etc there are a number of decent garages but these will obviously be smaller in number.

True enough, but all cars have foibles and even with the Mazda I'd rather take it to a specialist.

No way would my Saab go to a non-specialist, too much quirkiness!

TBH whilst I'm sure there must be somewhere that is familiar with MX5 SC's other than myself and P5, I don't know of any.

If somewhere isn't familiar with the SC set up you are wasting your money, I've tried talking garages through procedures which are simple when a customer has had a problem (In the last case he was in the Isle of Man) and its a waste of time.

P5 is far nearer than I (Solihull) so give him a call and be assured its done right.

Cheers Mark. I used to get all my work done with Rich at Maztek. Never a fault, always running fine. I need to get the bugger to move down to my neck of the woods and open up again!
