Is 1st to 2nd change always a but baulky, can feel a bit of kickback ? Last MX5 I drove had the smoothest change ever. Is there any mileage in having the linkage adjusted ?

I don't think they have a linkage, gearstick goes directly into the top of the gearbox.

My mk1 has a terrible change 1st to 2nd when cold, but thats just character.

Gearbox oil change?

Do the mk2.5 still have the turret that u can refill the oil in?

Yes if it's a 5-speed. The 6-speed lubricates the linkage from the gearbox oil.

Thanks, what's the turret ? What oil have you found best for diff and gearbox, might swap them out for peace of mind.

My 2.5 6 speed is a bit clunky first thing in the morning and the box oil has just been changed. I think it's a case of TADTS.
