Thinking of selling
Discussion
Guys,
I'm on the verge of selling the KinkMobile, but I'm really struggling on a realistic price to sell.
You can see the spec and pics here: http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?car...
It's got 98k kilometeres on the clock, and consistently gives me just under 30mpg (I keep a log on all fuel and mileage).
It's not a blatant 'for sale' ad. I just struggle to find a realistic price to offer it at.
I've been though the PH classifieds and Autotrader - but there's no obvious consistent level of pricing. I don't want to price it too high, as it will never sell, but then don't want to sell it too low either.
Any thoughts,
K

From my experience of the past year when looking to buy - yes, the prices vary a huge amount.
However, due to the nature and age of the cars, so does the quality. I saw everything from £900 stters, which were vey messy, to £3k minters, which were spotless.
The age of the car and its general low price mean many have not been cared for and had many owners. Conversely, theres plenty (as most on this board seem to be TBH) that are very good quality, well cared for, respected examples.
You just gotta be realistic about where on this scale yours falls, and whether you need the money NOW.

I'd price it at about £58,000.
That way it will never sell, you'd still have an MX-5 and you could claim to have the most valuable MX5 in the country
That actually happens... One of the cars I went to see was lovely I thought, as I looked around it with the Chap who owned it, whilst his wife peeked through the curtains, hoping her new kitched was on its way soon. That way it will never sell, you'd still have an MX-5 and you could claim to have the most valuable MX5 in the country
Got to the crunch, I thought it was overpriced, he wouldnt budge. Eventually came clean, he didnt want to sell it at all!
