Has anyone wired their side-markers up to be running lights?

I'm thinking of changing my orange markers to these Clear ones from MX-5 parts - and would like to wire them up as running lights at the same time.

What are peoples thoughts on the clear side markers and the running lights idea?

Not sure but I think if you want clear side markers as running lights you'll have to fit orange bulbs...

I have my sidemarkers wired.

Still the original orange ones, they look pretty cool. Just something different.

Never had any probs from the cops.

Do you happen to have any photos of them when lit?
Cheers! Rob

I think you'll have to check the legality.

Either cars can't have side markers or they have to be certain colours.

Sorry not much use but I remember it isn't a blanket 'yes'

if you have clears the fronts can be white and the rears red , or you can do them orange

I put white LEDs in mine:

My reflection in a window:

A very old pic (car is now lowered, on new wheels and has front spoiler) but this also shows them lit:

I have never had a problem with legality.

Cheers for the pics Raffles. How hard was it to get them wired to the sidelights?

Very easy to wire in. You will need extra wire and I just used scotch clips and attached them to the sidelight circuit.

Ah scotch locks...

So the markers are sometimes on and sometimes off !

wink

Useless devices (admidedly they don't affect much in this case) but when used with alarms or worse ECU piggybacks etc they can cost you loads.
