1) When do you take your hard top back off the car - a particular time or just when the weather is a bit warmer?

2) How/where do you store it?

Thanks in anticipation biggrin.

1)When it stops raining....(I guess it's off from mid May to Aug/Sept.)

2)In the shed. You just have to brush the spiders off when you come to put it back on.

I usually take mine off sometime around March/April time. I put mine on about 6 weeks ago and I like the change, I also put it down to prolonging the life of my soft top - at nearly 10 years old the hood is still in good condition.

I bought a hard top stand, which comes with a cover to go over it. When not in use it can be folded up and stored away, but when it's accommodating the hard top it lives at the back of my garage.

I have a hard top. I dont understand all the haters. Its just an extra option.

My car lives outside - if its a cold snap, I pop it on the save the hood.
If I'm driving to somewhere boring down the motorway, I leave it on. i'f im going for a hoon, I take it off. I can do it myself in about a minute, and you just lean it up in the garage.

Obviously, as we get closer into Spring, it will get used less and less.

I should qualify my statement by saying that I have no need for one. My MX5 is my second/toy car and I don't use it in bad weather unless it happens to be bad weather when I'm off on a drive/rally/track-day (I'm not precious about it but I have a Focus for the driving I'm not going to enjoy). It lives in a garage so I don't have to worry about weather/oiks.

I saw a Mk3 with a hard-top yesterday and I thought it looked pretty good - better than the CC version (but still not as good as when the top is down wink)

I have to say today has been the first day since I've owned it (apart from my one day when I had the roof off after purchase) that I wished I had taken the hard top off.

The reasoning for the question is that I wondered whether it would be okay just stood up in the conservatory resting against the wall (with support & a blanket over it) or if people stored them another way. The garage is full of junk and two cars so that's a no-go frown.

Mine lives like that, its fine. some foam on the floor for the edge to rest on, and wrapped up in a blanket. If you have it front down then you can get a lot of stuff behind it too, mines leaning on a big pile of boxes, and not taking up much more room than the boxes alone did. OR you could hang it from the Garage roof.

Thats exactly how I leave mine. Stood on the metal clips on the back resting against the wall of the shed, covered in a plastic sheet. It's been ok like that for the last few summers I've had it. Not sure it's an approved method....

i prefer to keep mine front down, on 2 bits of polystyrene from packing. the metal feet on the back don't seem all that strong to me...
