Ok,

I have 2 questions regarding the MX5...

Can a 6'1 bloke fit in one and drive it ok without looking daft or breaking my neck or having my knees up around my ears?

I would probably be looking at the early models.

Also, i have seen MX5 put as a reply to quite a few posts in a "humourous" manner, whats the background to this I'm itching to know....

Someone will be along shortly to call you gay or a hairdresser for considering it but I'll give you the facts...

I'm 6"2, weigh 18st and drive a Mk1 MX5 as a weekend car. I've had faster, bigger and more impressive cars but have most fun in the Mazda. It reminds me of my first original mini in that you are so low to the ground and so connected that even mini roundabouts become fun.

Unfortunately I'm emmigrating soon so it has to go - if you're looking for a tidy low mileage mk1 1.8 feel free to pm me.

Edit to add - MX5 is used as a comedic reply because it is always suggested (without fail) when someone asks what good handling car they can get on any budget...but it is suggested for a reason!

I'm 6ft and have aftermarket seats that reduce the headroom a little, and I fit just fine. The standard seats are very low so you should have loads of space.

Also, the 5 looks much more manly with a rollbar.

Click on his user name in the left-hand column of the post, then on his profile page there will be an "email me" link somewhere. Exactly where depends which skin you use.

BTW I am 6'1" and, well, portly, and I don't have any trouble. Unless you count going upstairs without sweating. I have trouble with that.

I'm 6'6 with big feet and I fit fine in mine. Looking at options to free up some space but it all works as standard. You'll be fine.

Get one before the sun comes and you'll save hundreds bounce

How did you know I've had worse ideas? Are you following me again?
Seriously considering one, always liked them but in my youth was foolishly put off by the hairdresser image, I've heard they are the most amount of fun though, glad to see I will fit.....I assume they like a bit of tuning?
