Passenger side hood drain is blocked. There's a hole on the flat by the seatbelt mount. Had the same on mine but on the drivers side and the drain was indeed blocked. Careful when de-blocking not to push too hard.

Here's a handy page from the MX5OC pages;

Possibly.

Mine seems to be a different story and i'd appreciate any advice on it.

On mine its the drivers floor. Just the flat bit, not the side walls, not the sloping bits, not behidn the seat etc just the bottom.

And i think i've found why.....

If you look underneath the car there are what look like 4 little round circles poss about 2 inch in diametre.

Two on each side.

I have no idea at all what they are.

But one of mine seems to have "popped" up. So i move it around - like i say no idea what they are - like rivet plates or something?

Any ideas?

I presume i can just lift the carpet and flash weld it back into place - at the moment i have a plastic sandwich bag stuffed in the hole to keep everythign dry.

Cheers

Check your drain holes as well. Mine initially manifested itself as wet drivers side floor, back and sides dry.

Prepare yourself for the worst pic ever!

As i say there are four of these on the underside of the car, two on the drivers side two on the passengers - and one of mine seems to have popped out.

Any ideas?

Are they not rubber grommets?
If so, can't they be pushed back into place?

I'm not sure!

They may be i can't tell form the touch and feel from underneath, i can't pull it back into place and to push it back into place i need to lift the carpet, prob take seat out etc.

Just wondered if anyone knew what they were and if they had any experience before i started on all that.

if they are rubber grommits or even if they arn't - what purpose do they serve???

Cheers again

They certainly look like the rubber grommets I've encountered in other cars. I had a Fiesta in which they had perished and would lift occasionally. Bit of sealant around them sorted that out.

I doubt they have a purpose in a completed car - probably essential in the manufacturing process.

To remove the carpets enough to get to the floor, remove the seats (4 x 14mm bolts), the sill-covers and the plastic kick-plate (if you were sat in the car it would be by the drivers right foot). The carpet can then be lifted and folded out of the way enough to get to the floor.

I think I've seen the grommits in Halfords but a good motor-factors should have them if they don't.

yes The way the wind has been blowing lately, as has the drivers side, the front & the back hehe

Aren't those just rubber grommets?

Used to be standard on 70's British cars to let the water out when the seals leaked.

Useful on a convertible if you leave the car out with roof down in the rain I guess!

50p from local motor factor.

Dunno, I've never had a 2.5 biggrin All convertibles can leak a bit under the wrong circumstances. If it's just the once I wouldn't worry. I just parked mine with the rear or nose into the prevailing wind whenever possible hehe
