Best interior trim for mk1 MX5?
Discussion
Hello all,
Following on from my contribution to the 'What are your plans for 2009', I wanted to know what people's opinions are on interior trim for mk1s?
I am fed up with my 60s wood trim which looks tired compared to the rest of the car. Some sort of stainless steel or carbon look might be pretty cool.
Any pics well received.

I think we have the same interior
Indeed we do. Tempted just to dig it all off and use a bit of white spirit to get rid of the glue, and just leave it black for the time being.
P.s. yeah, seen that interior as well, nit sure about the chrome, but stainless steel looks quite good. Shame you can't see it on a mk1 in the pictures.

Do it. The "wood" on mine was knackered (all the laquer had gone on the bits around the ashtray and vents) so I pulled it all off. I've added stainless vent rings, dial rings, dial buttons, gearknob and a leather and stainless handbrake grip. I think the stainless ventilation control facia is a bit much. OnlyMX5ives said:
Oh... I must be getting old.
I have a 5 in stock with that 'wood' and I liked it.
I thought it brightened up the dull interior.
The wood on my one is staying!! I have a 5 in stock with that 'wood' and I liked it.

I have to admit, when I bought the car I wasn't really fussed about the interior. And my daily has plenty of leather and germanic black and silver plastic so happy for this one to look and feel different.
Plus, my mates have given me such a ribbing for having (in their opinions) a naff faux-wood dash, that I'll now not remove/replace it out of sheer principle
You could well be right.
Mine though is not a new steering wheel, I reckon it's been on the car for quite some time. The current Momo wheels look much more modern and have thumb rests.
