A few pictures of your car from when Bob had it.

Scotland 2004
(The other Berkeley is my old car)

Scotland 2005
(The red Mk2.5 is my current beast)

Cheers fella, looks like my car has been in good company and enjoyed a good number of outings!

Hopefully I shall be taking it on many more similar escapades, beginning next weekend (with mx5nutz).

I'll probably dyno it at some point this year too, and maybe even track it.

The only picture I have atm is from when I purchased it:

Different wheels - Mk2iS which I prefer and has been lowered too.

I'm undecided on the grill, it's something the previous owner put on as part of the TT area, which I inhabit too.

OT here, but does anyone know where would be best to get some clear side light (indicator) bulbs?

I think it'll tidy up the look of the front of the car quite nicely.

I know mx5 parts do some, but they don't seem to get rave reviews. Also is it worth replacing the housing/lenses at all or just the bulbs?

TIA.

Replacing the bulbs alone won't make a lot of difference as the reflectors in the lenses are orange.
Some have successfully removed the orange reflector by putting it in the oven until the glue melts...

Aye, I might just end up doing that, seen it mentioned it a few times when searching now. Seems pretty simple and effective.

The old Delia Smith specials are very easy to do. Recommend you get some fresh sealant though to make sure they don't fill it with water afterwards (i learnt from this mistake).

Makes a big improvement to the front of the car though

Just installed some new headlamps this afternoon, which look a lot clearer and fresh looking. I'll see how they compare when I go to work tomorrow morning at 7am.

In the last hour I decided to have a bash with detangoing, oven worked a charm. I haven't put any new sealant on as of yet, once I fitted the two halves back together again I put it in the oven again to let the glue adhesive together again. If this doesn't prove to be good enough I'll just do it later, I think I need to buy some more amber indicator bulbs now anyway as w/o the reflector they are quite transparent.

Bit dark now, but here is a pic of the new headlamps and detangoing:

Pretty happy with it, free mod biggrin

If they're the ones from MX5parts they'll be a huge improvement over the awful sealed beam units, and you will be thanking God the next time a bulb blows!

Like the indicators - should do mine really as they're a little grimy at the edges. Not sure about de-tangoing on a black car though.

Do make sure you have some sort of grille though, very easy for a stone to punch a hole in the rad without. I went for a black honeycomb one which happened to be the cheapest wink but doesn't draw any extra attention. Not a big fan of the light coloured/silver ones.

Looking good smile

Berkeley (and all Mk1 1.8 as far as I know) don't have sealed beam headlights.

Detangoed black cars look superb. Especially if you can splash some chrome on the car too cool

Mine's a 1.8 Mk.1 (albeit an import) and I can assure you mine had sealed units until last year!

Not a big chrome fan, but I might try out the indicators some time!

Anyone know when non-sealed beam units became standard fitment then?

Don't know, mine's a 94, so an early 1.8.

UK cars didn't have sealed units - it was always an Eunos issue.

Yup, the headlamps are from mx5parts.com, apparently very similar to Raybrigs. Certainly work a lot better over stock, the beam is far brighter now and the beam pattern is clearer too. Aesthetically they look a little better too, as the old ones were very dull and quite frankly looked their age.

I'll try and get a picture tomorrow sometime in the sunlight if I can with the clear indicators, although the car will probably be in a filthy state.

Took a picture today after my lecture.

Unfortunately just a poor quality phone pic, but you get the idea:
