Drivers seat

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone out there has the same problem with drivers seat. The right-hand bolster seems to take all the wear when getting out of the drivers seat, seat cover is good but the bolster is flattening. Can they be re-stuffed or is it a job for the pros?

Or perhaps I should go on a diet!

Mine's not flattening but it has a fair sized hole where the material used is vinyl not cloth.

They all seem to do that - either squash the bolster, wear the cover or both.

Unfortunately I haven't seen any seat foam kits for the MX5 so far, so it might be a job for a pro.

Or fit a bucket seat

Whilst I tend to trade in sub 100k cars I've never seen much of a problem TBH.

Certainly the Mk1 imports seats hardly wear at all.

I have a 150k car in (which I'm going to turn into a track car) and its seats only show the slightest wear in the form of the cloth 'bobbling' so if your boulster is flat it may suggest loads of short trips or perhaps a fat / old owner who struggled to get in / out.

(Or its done a gazillion miles and been clocked)

I think I'll have a go a re-stuffing first! if that fails then I guess it will be a replacement seat.

Will let you know the result with pics.

Dont replace the seat! If the leather is good the boulster can be repaired with new foam. I have done many before..

Great . . . Many thanks. Just the answer I was hoping for. The rest of the seat is fine.
All I need is some warmer weather, bit nippy in the garage at the moment!
