Mk 2.5 - 1.6 or 1.8?

How much of a difference in performance is there between these two?

The 1.8 is significantly faster and nicer to drive slowly too due to the increased torque.

I have a nice Mk2.5 in the classifieds for a mere £3595...

but even if I didn't, I'd still reccomend a 1.8 (I drive a 1.8 too)
