My 2004 Mk2.5 has 45k on it now - and it's time to start looking at organising getting the Cambelt changed

Am I right in thinking that if I buy this kit that has got all the bits that need changing. I understand it is normal to change the timing belt, the idler & tensioner pulleys etc at the same time. I will be getting my local mechanic to do it and he has quoted me a price based on me obtaining the stuff - so wanted to check if there is anything else I need.

The kit says complete, so it should be just that. If your mechanic is not used to changing cambelts for your car why not find someone who is. You can still buy the kit yourself, but I would advise taking it too someone knows what they're doing.

You might want to consider the water pump and cam / crankseals if youre keeping the car long term.
