Firstly happy new year to one and all...

So while I try and sober up slightly before I go to bed I was thinking about my car (related) plans for the next 12 months.

  • Purchase a Saab 9-3 Aero at some point so we have two cars again
  • Retire the 5 to weekend/fun status
  • Fit new suspension to the 5
  • Hopefully extend or clear out the garage so that the 5 can hibernate in there
  • Get private plates for both cars (if the DVLA ever get around to releasing the two that we want)

2009 Wish list:
Suspention
Hood
Working Elec Arial
Exhaust
Fix the bodywork

The problem is i'm one of those tight buggers and dont like spending cash when I can put it off.... So who knows what I'll actually do.

My plan is to replace my EMB + J&S + 350cc injectors with an Adaptronic + 550cc injectors. After that I'll tweak the pulley ratios to give me as close to 250bhp as possible, then I'll be content with the performance. After that I'll be trying to find a way to fit harnesses biggrin

Sort out the minor bodywork issues
Suspension

In that order, those are the "firm" plans I've got, the less firm plans are an Exhaust system and decat, and some 1.8 brakes, and maybe a turbocharger, just maybe. wink

I'll show you how to fit harnesses! teacher

This year, I'm planning to:

  • lose some more weight
  • fit another new seat
  • re-do the droplinks
  • sort the bodywork
  • try some more new tyres
  • compete in at least 15 sprints and hillclimbs driving
  • defend my 2 championship titles bowtie
Oh, and I might just have an engine built whilst I'm at it. biggrin

Currently it is laid up / half stripped down in the garage. Plans so far:

1. De-rust the entire underside of the car (lots of surface rust and road grime), repainting and rustproofing everything I can under there!
2. Do a full stage zero tune plus an annual service.
3. Fit some R888's or Parada tyres (probably the latter due to cost).
4. Tidy up the engine bay so it's like new
5. Fit a new battery.
6. Fit new sidelight/indicators and front lip spoiler. Possibly clear repeaters & side markers too.
7. MOT it!
8. Sort out some mild rust on one of the sills.

Hoping for it to be on the road for 01/04/09.

It has two roadtrips to do this year into southern Europe.

I have a second car at the moment whilst the '5 is off the road, but will probably sell that once its running. Will probably (against my previous decision) get a hard top for it next winter if I keep it on the road.

Replacing lots of standard parts in order to bring the car back to the performance it had from the factory, in theory.

Thanks Teach biggrin

The real problem though isn't the fitting so much as working out what harness I can fit and where the rear attachment would go. With my HD Deuce rollbars & Elise seats my choice is a bit more limited. I have a feeling it might mean fitting a 3-point harness rolleyes

Nothing wrong with 3 point, still hold you in far better than standard seatbelts.

I used one of the HD mounting hols, replaced a regular bolt with an eyebolt. Rear shelf is not suitable for mounting harnesses.

Well, it's not a plan as such.

But after the 5 was smashed into on Boxing night (whilst parked up mad), we're hoping that it's not a write-off....

If not, a Momo steering wheel and a performance air filter are the next items on the shopping list.

Happy new year all!

My plans are in order or importance are:

Full service and cambelt change - urgent
New tyres - on the cars
New Brake pads - will give this a go myself
Book up half a dozen track / car handling days - oh yes!
Play with induction - will sound nice
New Exhaust - why not, I like nice sounds
De-cat - a thought for now, but could be a faff each time an MOT is due..
Suspension - still thinking through the pros/cons of this one...
New wheels - if all of the above is done then I may as well.
