Chaps and chepettes,

It may be a bit of an obvious question but are Mk1 and Mk2.5 seats interchangeable?

There's some changing going on over at our gaff and was just pondering the practicalities of it before I end up torque-wrntching my nuts off, as it were.

Can anyone provide the info?

Good stuff, though I suspect I'll be staying with the ones that give me a bad back irkedhehe

Some complain the Mk2 / 2.5 seats are too high, I find it varies seat to seat so check before buying.

I thought it was just Mk2.5 seats - especially the heated leather ones. Mk2 seats are the same as UK Mk1 seats with separate headrests...

I've found big variences between identical yr cars even Mk1's.

Differences of at least an inch which is a lot if you're 6' +

Tell me about it! That's why I've swapped my lovely comfortable heated leather Mk2.5 seats for Elise S2 seats biggrin

I'm 5'6" so don't have the headroom problem but would ideally like to sit lower. Having sampled my brother's 2.5 seats, they're the last thing I want to put in.

It seems like he's the same and is looking at a trackday seat from a Mk1 to fit his car.

I'll keep my eye on ebay.

Yeah I've been pondering putting one of these in (if I can get away with just the one).

Are they hard to put in or can you make use of the original runners?

Love the Sparco ones but bet they cost a bomb frown

Mine are on original runners. Just takes a bit of mechanical thought to mount them.

So seats from a mk2.5 or mk1 can fit a mk2 and vice-versa? This could be handy as my driver's seat looks worse for wear and it's £300 for a lether retrim.

Yep, all years fit in all years (Mk1/2/2.5).
The only think to beware of is that earlier Mk1s had the seat-belt stalk attached to the transmission tunnel whereas later Mk1s onwards had them attached to the runners. I don't think this would cause a problem swapping seats onto your own cars runners though.
