Going to look at a 54 plate sport tomorrow hopefully.

It's got the later style sport wheels and 6 speed gearbox.

Does this mean it has an LSD too?
Does it have Aircon (suspect not)?
Do all MX-5s of this age have glass rear screens (the photos are with the roof down)

Yes, it will have LSD.

Only if the first owner ticked the a/c box on the optional extras list.

Yes, it will have glass screen.

Good luck.

Didn't realise A/C was still an option then - Can't tell from the photos whether it has or not!

Are they fairly manageable without A/C - aside misting up on cold mornings?

A/C was still an option up till 2001 on UK cars, that much i know. Don't know if they started fitting it as standard after that.

Misting up really is not that much of a problem cos the cockpit volume is small and the heater woks very well. Even on the coldest rainy evenings, I rarely need to resort to the A/C to demist the cabin. The heater and heated rear screen are more than up to the job.

I especially sought my UK car out cos it has A/C, sometimes wonder why I bothered. Only a few times, when it has been a blazing hot day, have I actually needed it.

With hindsight, I could of saved a bit of cash and bought a nice import with 6-speed, LSD and A/C all as standard.

However, on chilly mornings the heated leather seats are a nice feature on my car.

Good hunting.

Went to look at it - it was very nice and in good condition with just 27k.

A little over my price boundary (£7k) and the guy couldn't quote me a P/X (Doubt I'd have liked it if he could anyway)

It didn't have air-con, but that doesn't neccesarily bother me.

Cheers for the replies.

Sadly not. I need to sell my car first and knowing my luck it'll be gone before that happens. Here's hoping though! smile.

Shame if it's a nice one.

Don't bother with aircon in this country, you'll not have much chance to use it and it's something i've never had or wanted on any of mine. It's not something people bother with in soft top roadsters to be honest.

I'll see. I really like the colour, don't see many grey ones about.

After the mondeo, trust me, you'll love it.

Have you test driven it?

Not yet - the guy was dealing with another customer when I went to look at it and I didn't have time to hang around. I drove a 1.6 Arizona back in the summer and thought it was great, and drive a mate's Mk3 occasionally, so hoping it will be a combination of these!

I've sent the guy selling it an email asking him to give me a ring so I can arrange to go back either tomorrow or during the week.

Edit: Well, I've put the Mondeo up for sale this morning - fingers crossed smile.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help I've had in my few threads in this section. Hope to take a bigger part now that I own one! Pick it up next week, can't wait! biggrin.

Also: Thanks so much to Chris (8Ace). The car is lovely and I can't wait to drive it on Sunday! Spent much of today polishing it!
