One of my work colleagues is taking me to look at a MK1 MX5 that he has bought on ebay. I know the usual checks to do but was wondering what specificly to check for him on an MX5? I don't want to get him to buy a dog!

Thanks in advance thumbup

Rust on sills.
Moisture in the boot
Cracks along the edge of the soft roof. They may be small but they do let the water in.

Other than that. Nothing you'll spot easily springs to mind.

Sticking rear calipers
Cluth slave cylinder replaced? (10 years and they tend to go)
Underbody damage? 2 box sections run the length of the car, I test drive one once where one of these was totally crushed in the middle... not great on the handling front.

Err....off my head about 54,000 something like that. But in good news if it does snap no damage to the MX5 engine. It's a non-interferance type.
